The Solution for Dehydrated Winter Skin: Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Serum and Moisturizer

| , ,

Besides breakouts and blemishes, dehydration is the number one issue that I fight against with my skincare. Even though I have combination skin, my skin loses water very easily – especially during the winter. Many products in my collection are great at giving me an initial dose of hydration, but only a select few keep it hydrated for the entire day. And dehydrated skin + makeup = not cute. So I am always on the hunt for products to add into my skincare routine that will help me address this. Here are two that immediately impressed me and have been working wonders for my skin as the weather gets colder:
1. Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Moisturizer – Initially when I opened this jar, I thought it was going to be another lightweight gel cream based on it’s intense hydrating claims. However, the texture really surprised me since it is much thicker than I anticipated and feels like a traditional cream. While I was waiting for it to absorb (thinking it would take a few minutes), I felt my skin 25-30 seconds after applying and it had already disappeared into the skin. To say this cream is comforting is an understatement. The texture has a slip to it that doesn’t make it feel greasy, and it feels as if it is enveloping the skin making it feel nourished and hydrated. I prefer to use it at night and love how pampering it feels to apply – my skin feels instantly comforted which is essential when I’ve been in and out of the cold all day.
2. Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Intensive Moisture Quenching Bi-Phase Serum – While the moisturizer helps to both hydrate and comfort the skin, this bi-phase serum is all about hydration – all day hydration. Serious hydration. The texture is a watery liquid that plumps the skin up with moisture immediately, and after using it for a few weeks, my skin even looks a bit more radiant (however that is always a side effect of really great hydrating products #hydrationiskey). Because it is so lightweight, I find it easy to layer under other serums and/or moisturizers if my skin is in need of additional moisture. I enjoy the moisturizer in the evening, however the serum has been best for me in the morning. Since I wear makeup everyday, I rely on skincare that can give me long lasting hydration so my makeup doesn’t end up looking cakey by the end of the day. Another side effect of too little moisture in my skin is I end up getting very oily which can ultimately lead to breakouts. So in summation – all roads lead back to hydration. It’s the foundation of my skincare routines and one of the results I seek the most because it solves almost all my skin concerns.
If you are in the market for a new serum or moisturizer to help with dehydration, I highly recommend giving either a try. They work well together as well as with other skincare products so they are easily added into a routine.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfectors – The Perfect Lip Balm/Gloss Hybrid

| , , ,

There are some products that take me forever to finally try though they have been on my radar for years. But new launches often can distract me (ooooh something shiny *loses attention*). Thankfully I force myself to explore long-standing products regularly so I don’t overlook any gems. These Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfectors manage to capture so many great lip product qualities in one formula. Hydrating and moisturizing like a balm, but with the pigmented shiny  finish of a gloss.
And then there is the color range. HELLO NEUTRALS! These are all super wearable, give just a hint of color to the lips yet can be worn alone or layered over multiple different lip products. To be honest, it just comes down to what color hits your fancy because as you can see from the below swatches, most of them look very similar on the lips.
My personal favorites are 05 and 06 because they have a bit more depth, while 01, 02 and 04 have a milky nude quality to them that looks best layered over a deeper shade.Yet still I added all 5 colors to my makeup bag because I adore all of them and find they will work interchangeably with most of my everyday looks.
Because the lip swatches all looked so similar, I felt that arm swatches would give a more accurate representation of the differences between each shade. The applicator is a cushy sponge that makes application foolproof. While there is a gorgeous shine with these lip perfectors, they are not tacky in the least. I would highly recommend giving these a try – your lips will thank me!
