Cardigan jackets and tweed/boucle jackets were a huge trend last fall and are still going to be on trend for this fall/winter. I absolutely LOVE the style and enjoy wearing them with different pants and denim to offset the polished vibe. Worn alone or styled with a camisole, cardigan jackets are a great summer to fall transition piece. This is a perfect example of combining the polished look of a boucle jacket with a more casual item such as cargo pants. These cargo pants are satin which makes them a bit more dressy but still balance out the prim and proper look of the jacket. Add some pumps or slingbacks to this look and it’s ready for the office. Keep the look with strappy sandals and a small bag/clutch and you are ready to go out for the evening.

Straight leg and wide leg jeans are also a major trend for fall. So I love wearing the two trends together. Choose a non-distressed style of denim or go for a more edgy look with distressed jeans. Either way it’s a great piece to style with a cardigan jacket. These striped cardigans from J.Crew are a top seller and for good reason. Faux leather pants are a fall staple for me. And I love how they look styled with a boucle or cardigan jacket. It’s once again about balancing out the polished look of the jacket with the slightly edgier style of the pants. I wore this outfit during the holidays last year and added a red lip to make it more festive. This look would also be great for a holiday party or event.

Any style skirt would really look great with a cardigan jacket, but I especially love the classic look of a slip skirt. Throw a striped cardigan over your shoulders if it is still too warm to wear and it adds a bit of interest to a solid color outfit. I still love a classic blazer for fall and winter, but cardigan jackets and tweed jackets are another option for chic outerwear.

Though the cardigan jacket and tweed jacket are on trend for fall, don’t worry about not being able to wear it past this season. They are still classic styles that have been around for years and always look classic and polished.
