Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation ReviewI already have a ton of foundation and complexion products, but I absolutely still love testing out new formulas because the innovation and technology behind them gets better and better. Sisley just launched their newest foundation called the Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation. My skin has gotten drier over the past few years so I prefer formulas that are moisturizing with a skin-like finish. I don’t mind something glowy as long as it’s not TOO glowy, though I do tend to avoid matte formulations because they don’t work too well on my skin type anymore. This new Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation is a luminous matte finish foundation suitable for all skin types with medium coverage.

The matte part made me a tad nervous but I have used a few luminous matte formulations before and end up loving the look. I tested out two shades – 00N Pearl and 0N Dawn with the latter being a better fit for my skin tone. Here are my thoughts on the formula and more details about this new foundation.

Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation Review

Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation ReviewSince the formula gives a matte finish, I knew I should probably prep my skin well before applying. I left it a bit damp as I applied the foundation and that was a great decision. As I was applying it, it did give the exact finish that it described – a luminous matte which was really beautiful. The formula is richly pigmented so I only used a small amount which gave me enough coverage but allowed my skin to show through which I prefer. After I applied it and finished the rest of my makeup, my skin had a beautiful soft focus natural skin finish. It is designed to be long wearing and I found that it did hold up for 8+ hours on the days I wore it.

Texture and coverage

This is definitely a thicker texture and gives significant medium to full coverage. Start with a tiny amount and build up as needed. If you apply too much at the beginning, you may spend the next few minutes trying to sheer it out. A little goes a long way.

Shade range

There are 29 shades in the range with a variety of light to light medium shades. Hopefully they will launch more medium deep and deep shades because the current option is not as extensive as it could be.

Price point

This is a premiere luxury brand so the price point is very high. It retails for $125 for 1 oz. I will note that I only need one pump to cover my entire face so I do foresee this lasting me a VERY long time.

Ingredients

This is a skincare based foundation so there are ingredients designed to help improve the look of your skin with each application. Cucumber extract and a glyco-complex help to instantly hydrate and plump the skin, green lentil extract minimizes the appearance of pores and peony extract helps to sooth the skin.

Skin types

Sisley says it is suitable for all skin types though I really think it would be excellent on those with oily or combination skin. For those with dry or mature skin, be sure you prep the skin well before applying.

Longevity

This is a very long wearing foundation so it will definitely last all day long. I didn’t need to set it with powder either but I am curious to see how it will wear during the summer months!

Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation ReviewHow to Apply the Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation

Prep the skin

Ensure your skin is well hydrated and moisturized before applying. I like my skin to be damp before I apply the foundation and find that it looks blends easily and looks more skin-like.

Apply with a brush

I like applying it with a foundation brush to get a smooth application.

Only apply a small amount

This foundation is richly pigmented so you only need a tiny amount to cover a large part of the face. Start small and build up as you need.

Work in with a damp sponge

Because it’s a medium to full coverage foundation that has a matte finish, I like to take a damp sponge after application and ensure the foundation is really well worked into the skin. This sheers it out a touch more, adds back in some moisture and really gives a skin-like finish.

Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation Swatches

Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation SwatchesI have both shade 00N Pearl and 0N Dawn but found that 0N Dawn was a better match. 00N Pearl was a touch too light for me. There is a mix of warm, cool and neutral undertones to choose from. I always prefer a neutral undertone though the 0N Dawn shade did skew a touch yellow but still worked for me. There is a large number of light to light medium shades as you can see from the above swatch chart, but the medium deep to deep shades are not as varied or inclusive. Hopefully they will be releasing more shades as time goes on.

Where to buy Sisley Phyto-Teint Perfection Foundation?

Overall, I really ended up liking this foundation once I figured out how best to use it. Skin prep was necessary for me and definitely made all the difference. Will you be trying this foundation? Let me know if you do!
