A vitamin c serum is one of my must have skincare products for my morning routine. In addition to helping brighten, fade hyperpigmentation, hydrate, promote collagen production and evening out the skin tone, it also rich in antioxidants and helps to protect against sun damage. That is why I find it most useful to use during the day. Maelove’s The Glow Maker has been recommended to me by many of my readers for years as a great yet affordable vitamin c serum. I was so excited to finally test it and see what all the hype is about.

The texture is very similar to other vitamin c serums I use – it’s watery, absorbs quickly and only leaves a small trace of tackiness on the skin if you use too much. It layers easily under my SPF and foundation and feels great on the skin. I did notice some brightening and evening out of my skin tone over time and definitely will continue to use it to see if the results get stronger. Many of you have asked how it compares to the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic which is one of my all time favorite vitamin c serums. I think the Maelove Glow Maker is definitely a more cost effective option but the results with the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic are stronger and more noticeable. It really helps to fade dark spots, reduce hyperpigmentation and brighten the skin. It’s definitely more intense in my opinion than the Glow Maker, but it’s also more than 5x the price so I would expect much more significant results. For those that have significant sun damage to tackle or intense dark spots, the CE Ferulic may be your best bet. But for most people that are looking for an everyday vitamin c serum to help even out the skin tone and protect the skin from free radical damage, the Glow Maker is a must have.
