A moisturizer is one of the most crucial parts of any skincare routine. In fact, even for the most basic skincare routine or for a routine that needs to be as minimal as possible – a moisturizer is almost always recommended. More than a serum, more than an eye cream, more than any toner or mask. A moisturizer is the foundation of caring for your skin. The purpose of a traditional moisturizer is simply to moisturize the skin and keep it hydrated. In its simplest form, a good moisturizer helps the skin hold onto and retain water, which is a vital element for all skin. Throughout the years, moisturizers have been formulated to treat other skin concerns. But at its core, moisturizers are simply made for moisturizing the skin.
There are so many moisturizer options available these days that can suit any skin type or skin concern. Using the correct moisturizer for your skin type can make all the difference in helping your skin look healthy, glowing and fresh. I’ve shared my love before for the brand Educated Mess. And their Sake Bomb Moisturizer is the most recent product I’ve been testing from the line. It’s a fantastic lightweight intensely hydrating moisturizer that works for nearly all skin types. Especially going into summer where preferences for products to be more lightweight yet still deliver a ton of moisture is in high demand.
The Educated Mess Sake Bomb Moisturizer is an excellent choice for those looking to add a new intensely hydrating moisturizer for their summer skincare routine. What is the Educated Mess Sake Bomb Moisturizer?
The Educated Mess Sake Bomb Moisturizer is a lightweight gel-cream moisturizer designed to deliver hydration both immediately and for the long term. It’s formulated with a ton of ingredients that allow the skin to hold onto moisture and water. And leaves the skin looking more plump and supple. Though my skin is drier these days, I used to focus heavily on hydration even when my skin was oily. Ensuring the skin is properly hydrated and balanced is the key to great skin. But don’t just think of the Sake Bomb as another basic hydrating moisturizer. It contains various specific ingredients that also target skin firmness, elasticity and barrier support. It’s everything you could want out of a daily moisturizer.
Educated Mess Sake Bomb Ingredients
- Sake Ferment – This is a byproduct of sake fermentation and is rich in essential vitamins, amino acids, enzymes and peptides that will support the skin barrier. Sake ferment has been used in Japanese beauty for years after sake brewers noticed their hands were virtually ageless after years of brewing sake.
- Encapsulated Peptides – The peptides used in this moisturizer are designed to promote hyaluronic acid production which helps to plump the skin. The unique delivery system for these targeted peptides allows them to penetrate further into the skin. Rather than sitting on the surface or being broken down before they can provide benefits.
- Marine Bioferment – This is a hydrating active ingredient derived through the fermentation of a bacteria strain specifically known for its unique properties. This bioferment was found to boost the skin’s natural moisturizing factors. It helps reduce water loss and leave the skin with a healthy glow.
- While these are the key ingredients that are highlighted for their specific benefits, here is the entire ingredient list which you can find on their website: Aqua/Water/Eau, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Dimethicone/Peg-10/15 Crosspolymer, Squalane, Maris Sal/Sea Salt/Sel Marin, Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-50, Heptapeptide-15 Palmitate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Bacillus Ferment, Panthenol, Oryza Sativa Lees Extract, Tocopherol, Xanthan Gum, Lactic Acid/Glycolic Acid Copolymer, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Butylene Glycol, Hydroxyacetophenone, 1,2-Hexanediol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Glyceryl Caprylate, Phenylpropanol
How does the Educated Mess Sake Bomb Work?
Apply Morning and Evening
This is a moisturizer that you can easily use in the morning and/or evening. I personally have been testing it in my morning skincare routine. I love the way it preps my skin before makeup. My skin stays hydrated ALL DAY LONG which is something I struggle with as I have gotten older.
Use as Your Last Step
As with most moisturizers, this should be the last step of your skincare routine. If you want more information about what order to apply skincare products, I wrote an entire blog post with a step-by-step process.
Suitable for Sensitive Skin
As with ALL of Educated Mess products, the Sake Bomb Moisturizer is suitable for sensitive skin.
Easy to Add Into Any Routine
This is an easy moisturizer to simply slip into your skincare routine without worrying it will react with any other products you may be using. If you are ever concerned about a reaction to any product, patch test a small bit of the product on the side of your chin or face to see how your skin reacts to it.
What Are the Benefits of Educated Mess Sake Bomb?
Plumping Hydration
This is a moisturizer that will deliver intense moisture that leaves the skin looking plump and supple.
Soothing Barrier Support
It’s incredibly important to protect and support the skin barrier so that the skin can look and feel healthy. Using various actives (retinol, acids, etc) to address different concerns is fine. But ensuring that those actives don’t break down or damage the skin barrier is important. Using a moisturizer that is designed to help strengthen that skin barrier is key for any balanced skincare routine.
Firmness & Elasticity
As someone who is in her mid 40’s, I do tend to look for products that address many concerns at once. I love using the Educated Mess Sake Bomb because it intensely hydrates my skin but also targets firmness and elasticity.
