I’ve had to rethink my entire makeup collection in the past few years because my skin has completely changed in my mid 40’s. The products that used to work on me don’t work anymore and the products that I stayed away from are the ones that look the best on my skin. It’s taken some time to figure out but I have a good selection of products that I use regularly and love how they look and wear on my skin. Stick foundations have been a bit of hit or miss but when I find a good one, I want to share it! I have had really great luck with Dior complexion products over the years and can always find some that work well on my skin regardless of it’s current state. I had seen so many reviews for the Dior Forever Skin Perfect Stick Foundation and finally decided to it try for myself. It took some tries to figure out how best to work with it on my skin and while I would never go the extra mile for a foundation, I was so impressed with this formula that I was willing to put in the effort with this. Now that I have figured out the best technique and skin prep, it’s incredibly easy to apply, looks stunning and lasts all day long. Today’s blog post is going to be a full review on the foundation, how I apply it and who I think it would be best for.

Dior Forever Skin Perfect Stick Foundation Stick Review

The Dior Forever Skin Perfect Stick Foundation is designed to give the skin a natural finish while blurring imperfections and delivering up to 24 hr wear. The 24 hr wear claim is absolutely insane and one of my biggest pet peeves about makeup brands but I can confirm that it does stay put ALL DAY LONG until I remove it. For me that is usually 8-10 hours but I am sure it would last longer though I am hesitant to say it would last a full day. It’s a hydrating formula but not in a intensely dewy or glowy way. It’s creamy, smooth and keeps my skin looking the same at the end of the day as when I applied it first thing in the morning.

Price Point

This is Dior so the price point is steep since it is a luxury brand. It is $52 for .37 oz.

Shade Range

I wear shade 0N which is a perfect match for me. I love that Dior offers neutral undertones which is why I go back to them often for complexion products. That being said, the shade range is DISAPPOINTING. Great if you have a fair or medium skin tone, but if you have a medium dark to deep/dark complexion there are very few shade options. There are a total of 20 shades on their website but many of the darker shades are out of stock. Honestly, Dior should know better and do better. Hopefully they extend the range in the future because it is too good of a formula for so many to miss out on trying it!

Coverage

A true medium coverage foundation to can easily be sheered out for less coverage if you prefer. I love that it has the versatility to be both but it can not be built up to be full coverage.

Finish

The Dior Forever Stick Foundation gives a true natural skin finish. Not too dewy, not too matte. It does manage to be the perfect blend of both to leave the skin looking natural and radiant in a subtle way. It stays looking natural throughout the day and doesn’t get increasingly shiny or dewy. My skin type is closer to dry and slightly mature so I wasn’t sure I would like something without a glow but I absolutely LOVE this. And the blurring aspect to it is truly impressive. It really does give a smoothing filter like finish to the skin.

Longevity

I don’t know if it would last for the 24 hr time frame that Dior claims but I find that it lasts ALL day long for me. It doesn’t separate and looks better as the day goes on. I will check my makeup at the end of the day and it looks nearly the same as when I applied it that morning. It’s truly remarkable how it wears.

Skin Type

I’m happy to say that I think this foundation would work for nearly all skin types. Those with oily skin will like the subtle natural finish while those with dry or mature skin will love how hydrating the formula manages to be throughout the day. At first it doesn’t necessarily feel as creamy or hydrating as what I usually prefer, but it does continue to make my skin look smooth and hydrated the longer that I wear it.  If you have textured skin, I also think this would be a wonderful option because of the smoothing and blurring formula.

Before and After using the Dior Forever Stick Foundation

I am wearing the shade 0N which is a perfect match for my skin. It covers up any redness or uneven skin tone that I have and leaves a smooth finish that looks like healthy skin. Nothing too matte or too dewy – it’s the perfect balance. In the warmer weather, I will usually use a setting powder in my t-zone but during the colder months I don’t need to set this at all.

How To Apply the Dior Perfect Stick Foundation

Gentle Exfoliation

If I have any texture or dead skin, I will usually use a very gentle exfoliating toner like this Pixi Glow Tonic to smooth out the skin. Because of the drier nature of this foundation, it is more prone showcasing texture or dry patches so using that gentle exfoliation is a great step to prepping the skin.

Skin Prep is Key

I always ensure my skin is well moisturized before applying my makeup because products don’t apply the same as they used to on my skin. Age and hormonal shifts have really changed my skin so I use intensely nourishing and hydrating products in the morning before my makeup so that my foundation will go on better.

Apply When Skin is Damp

This is becoming more and more necessary for me to do because products blend better on my mature skin when it is damp. Things blend more smoothly and look more natural. I will apply the Dior stick foundation directly to my face and then spritz this mist over top before blending.

Blend with a Damp Makeup Sponge

Again with the added moisture, using a damp makeup sponge is the key to getting a really skin like finish with this foundation. I’ve tried using a buffing brush which is fine but I get the best results with a damp sponge.
