I received an email recently from a reader asking for suggestions on building a work wardrobe and want sort of pieces to begin looking for. I sent her some ideas and this dress was one of them! A classic black shift dress is timeless, able to be worn year round and can be styled so many different ways. I wore it with heels and my favorite red bag for a lunch meeting I had recently. It’s a crepe-like material so I wouldn’t recommend dressing it down with sneakers or flip flops, though it could still be cute with a simple pair of ballet flats or loafers as a more casual option. The options for accessories with a dress like this are endless – from all different types of coats and blazers, to scarves and jewelry and chic pumps or boots. I think of a dress like this as a blank slate with which any number of looks can be created!
