A consistent skincare routine is one of the most important things when it comes to taking proper care of your skin. The skin is the largest organ in the body so it deserves dedicated attention. Even if the routine is just a cleanser and moisturizer, it’s impactful if done everyday (hopefully twice a day – morning and evening). If you want to begin expanding your skincare routine and giving it extra attention, one of my favorite products to include daily are face mists. I began using face mists nearly 10 years ago as a way to add extra moisture into my skincare routine. There were relatively few on the market and most only targeted hydration. Since then, so many more options are available now and provide various benefits to any and all skin types. Face mists can be an afterthought for many when it comes to their skincare routine but hopefully after reading today’s post, you can understand more about face mists, what they do and find one that suits your skin type.

What Does Face Mist Do?
In this post, I’ll share a bit more about face mists and why they can be so impactful in a skincare routine. Face mists may seem frivolous but when used in the correct way, they can provide a ton of great benefits for the skin.
What Is a Face Mist?
Facial mists are typically formulated to help hydrate and balance the skin. All skin types can suffer from dehydrated skin so adding something easy like a face mist can help add that moisture back in. Some of the most common ingredients found in face mists are hyaluronic acid, ceramides and of course water. Additionally, many mists contains various calming ingredients like magnesium, cucumber and aloe vera.

Because most face mists are water-based, they will naturally provide hydration. Keeping the skin well hydrated will make it appear more plump, firm and healthy.

One of the best ways to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day is to use a face mist regularly. Something with a delicate mist that won’t disrupt your makeup, but that additional boost of moisture is so important.

Many face mists contain calming ingredients for soothing irritated skin and redness.
Boosts skincare absorption
When used during your skincare routine, face mists can help skincare products absorb more effectively.

Some face mists can provide anti-bacterial benefits which can reduce breakouts.

Having properly hydrated skin helps makeup apply better and last longer.
Are Face Mists Worth It?

What Is the Best Face Mist Spray?
Curel Deep Moisture Mist
This is an intensely nourishing face mist that feels almost creamy once applied. The mist is perfect and super fine which I love. I prefer to use this during my skincare routine rather than over makeup. This is definitely one of the best face mists I’ve found at a budget-friendly price.
Cocokind Calming Magnesium Facial Mist
While so many mists help with hydration only, the Calming Magnesium Facial Mist is best for calming stressed skin. The formula was designed for those with sensitive skin, reactive skin and acne-prone skin to help support the skin barrier.
Aestura Moisturizing Cream Mist
This Moisturizing Cream Mist is one of the creamiest mists I’ve ever tried. I have dry, mature skin so I am always looking for intensely nourishing products to add into my routine. Formulated with ceramides to support the skin barrier, this feels instantly comforting on the skin BUT it does leave a slight film. It doesn’t feel like a typical facial mist that absorbs instantly or dissipates a few seconds after spraying it. This leaves a creamy and nourishing finish that I absolutely love.
Rhode Glazing Mist
My favorite milky toner made into a mist! This is one of the most versatile face mists because it works really well in a skincare routine but can also be used over makeup. It gives the slightest glow without looking too greasy. This will definitely be a repurchase.
Peach & Lily Glass Skin Veil Mist
This is one of my favorite mists that preps the skin for foundation. The added bit of moisture from the mist helps my foundation blend better and look more skin like. I also love it used after makeup if I have used powder products. It helps take down the overly powdered look without disrupting my makeup.
Beekman 1802 Milkshake Hydrating Face Mist
I clearly love a creamy moisturizing face mist and this is a newer discovery that I fell in love with. It’s a bi-phase formula so be sure to shake it up before applying. Formulated with goat milk and squalene, this is like a nourishing moisturizer in spray form.
Timeless Skincare Hylauronic Acid Matrixyl 3000 Facial Spray
I can only use this in my skincare routine because it deposits a lot of product on the face but the formula is fantastic. It’s chock full of hyaluronic acid so it gives my skin instant hydration.
La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Soothing Repair Spray
The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Baume is one of my must have products for healing my skin when it is irritated. This is the spray version of the Cicaplast formula and works wonders for an overall repair mist. Especially with winter right around the corner, this will be on regular rotation.
