Visiting Annapolis

| , , ,

Spending most of my life only 20 minutes from the beach and Chesapeake Bay, I love the water. Well, I love enjoying sights by the water. While I can swim well, I am not an avid swimmer or water sports fan but rather I spent most of my life growing up enjoying activities by the beach, on the beach and around the beach. And the waterfronts surrounding these areas were always a great draw so spending the day visiting Annapolis recently was like revisiting all the memories from my childhood – great sights, fresh seafood and a refreshing breeze constantly coming off the water. Stan and I wandered around the downtown waterfront at Annapolis for a few hours on the most beautiful day a few weeks ago. We ate at the Iron Rooster (get the homemade pop tarts), grabbed some homemade ice cream afterwards, popped into a cute baby store after to pick up some new outfits for the little guy and strolled along the docks for the rest of the day.
Now that summer is in full swing, you won’t catch me out of the house for long periods of time without a hat which was essential on this particular day. The hat and dress was perfect for sightseeing around most of the day, while my slides may have been a better choice for a shorter excursion. They are exceptionally comfortable and so easy to wear, but walking around in something that flat for many hours can be a killer! But there were tons of benches and places to sit, so I managed to relax every 30 minutes or so. LOL This stretchy dress from GAP on the other hand was an absolute dream to wear. The tie at the waist makes it a bit more flattering than a simple black tank dress and the material is so comfortable. This would actually be the exact type of dress I would buy for summers at my office back in NYC. I would probably throw on a cute blazer or cardigan because the A/C froze us all but the length and style was office appropriate. Even though I no longer work in an office, I often still feel comfortable in pieces like this for my day to day activities and outings. Dresses and skirts will always win out over jeans/pants in my book!
