When A Dress Looks Cuter In Person Than It Does Online

Since I primarily shop online (I did so even when I lived in NYC because I liked trying things on in the comfort of my own home), I always run into the issue of finding a cute item that looks great on the model only to be disappointed when I actually put it on myself. I've gotten much better at navigating this over the years because I can usually gauge how certain styles will look on my frame, but with pregnancy all bets are off. Ha! Some things arrive that I am confident will be perfect and they look hideous. And then there are the wild card items that look mediocre online but end up really impressing me once they arrive. This dress was a wild card. I was drawn to the color mostly and the fact that it looked comfortable and roomy, and found the detailing to be even better in person. While I thought it would be super billowy (which can really accentuate my belly in an unflattering way), I was happy to see that it had a slight a-line shape but still stayed quite slim overall. And I had a lip  color that matched it perfectly so clearly it was meant to be!

The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is coming to an end this weekend and while I thought I had scoured every last piece, I am still finding cute things here and there. And a few of my current buys are back in stock again, so I thought I would round up those in-stock items that are worth a second look or are patiently sitting in my closet waiting to be worn come fall! Scroll the widget below for all my picks.

Dress - Madewell | Bag - Cult Gaia (loving this new style from Cult Gaia and this multi-colored version is stunning!) | Sandals - Sigerson Morrison (old but similar on sale here and in another color option here) | Sunglasses - Illesteva (love this budget cat eye version) | Necklace - Nashelle | Lips - Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in Libere
