When is the last time you were a tourist in your own city? Even living somewhere as dynamic and exciting as NYC, I can tell you that I don't always take advantage of this city the way I should. Shame on me. Laundry, dry cleaning, grocery shopping - AKA life gets in the way. But this past Friday, my husband and I both had off (a huge feat in and of itself) so we made a day of it. Since I knew I was going to be gallivanting about for hours, I needed to wear something comfortable (or so was mandated by my husband - "I don't want to hear you complaining about your feet!"). So this outfit I just purchased at the GAP could not have been more perfect. The shorts are probably the most comfortable pair I own and look absolutely adorable, when paired with this button down. I threw on my Joie striped loafers because I could walk 10 miles in them and feel nothing. Where did we go on our excursion? Well - we started out at Osteria Morini for lunch (it was restaurant week so it was a total steal!) and ate like kings with charcuterie boards, breaded skate and a goat cheese/ honey gelato that almost made us fall off our seats it was so good. Next we strolled through Soho, and the West Village stopping to check out some pretty great graffiti spots. We booked a 2 hour sail boat tour around the Hudson River with Schooner Adirondack, and enjoyed what may have been the most perfect afternoon. We finished off the night at a great diner near the Meatpacking District called Coppelia, where the guacamole actually had us using our fingers to wipe the bowl clean. Classy, I know. And then home to collapse and digest. All in all - a perfect tourist-y day.
